The 2008 Sloan Survey of Online Learning reveals that online enrollment rose by more than twelve percent from a year earlier. The survey of more than 2,500 colleges and universities nationwide finds approximately 3.94 million students were enrolled in at least one online course in fall 2007.
- The 12.9 percent growth rate for online enrollments far exceeds the 1.2 percent growth of the overall higher education student population.
- Over twenty percent of all U.S. higher education students were taking at least one online course in the fall of 2007.
- Associate’s institutions teach about 37 percent of the entire higher education student body, yet over one-half of all online students are currently enrolled by associate’s institutions.
Word study taught
ReplyDeleteTeachers then test students' pattern knowledge rather than their ability to memorize single words. For example, a teacher might have students work with twenty words during a word study cycle and then randomly test students on ten of those words. In word study, teachers encourage students to compare and contrast features in words. One common method for doing so is by having students sort words. Word study provides students with opportunities to investigate and understand the patterns in words. Knowledge of these patterns means that students needn't learn to spell one word at a time.
